Stacey Tookey

Emmy-nominated choreographer Stacey Tookey is a multitalented, Canadian-born director, choreographer and dancer who has worked with legendary musical artists such as Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Paula Abdul, Justin Timberlake and Michael Bublé.

She performed as a member of Mia Michaels’ cutting edge dance company R.A.W.in NYC, Parsons Dance Project, Ballet British Columbia , ChuThis and the Houston Grand Opera’s Carmen. She was the assistant choreographer for A Few Good Men Dancin’ on Broadway. Stacey was an original cast member for the entire five-year run of Celine Dion’s record- breaking show A New Day at Caesars Palace. Also along side Celine, she performed on The Oprah Winfrey show and the World Music Awards.

Stacey worked as resident choreographer and guest judge on CTV’s hit So You Think You Can Dance– Canada, before being hired for the U.S. version of the show, where her passionate pieces for the past 8 seasons have earned her three consecutive Emmy nominations. She has choreographed for Dancing With The Stars and  Paula Abdul on the James Corden show. Stacey also served as director on the sold-out 2010 So You Think You Can Dance Canada Tour.

She choreographed the music video for Christina Perri’s chart-topping hit Jar of Hearts, Vienne’s She Breaks, John Torres award winning Ocean and Rob Cantor’s viral sensation Shia LaBeouf music videos. She is currently working with Ingrid Michealson on her latest video being released “Celebrate”.

She has choreographed full length works for the Los Angeles Ballet and the Cincinnati Ballet’s 2012 season. She also Choreographed the entertainment for the Canadian Pavilion at 2012 London Olympics. She created a solo for Kathryn Mccormick in the feature film Platinum and has also worked on the feature film Le Castle Papier (Paper Castle) which is set to premier in the near future. Stacey is the creator, director, producer and choreographer for the dance drama webseries Chasing 8s and can be seen appearing in the dance T.V. hit Canadian series The Next Step.

Her dance company, STILL MOTION, celebrated its sold-out world premiere of “Moments Defined” in November 2012 in Los Angeles and continued to sell out houses in NYC and long Beach though 2014.The company preformed at the prestigious Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in 2015. Last summer, STILL MOTION was chosen for  a residency at Perry Mansfield, where Stacey created and the Company performed a new work all in one week. She is delighted to have her company perform in Trois- Rivières as a part of DansEncore this month.

She is excited to be choreographing the brand new original musical entitled “Dancer” opening 2018 in Toronto at the beautiful Elgin Theatre.

Besides choreographing, directing and performing Stacey has always loved to share her passion for dance. She has taught worldwide in such countries as Italy, Russia, India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Bermuda and all across North America. She also has taught and lectured at prestigious Universities such as Loyola Marymount University, Montclair State, University of Jacksonville and The Juilliard School.

Stacey is the founder of Camp Protégé, a week long invitation only mentorship for select dancers to help guide them to find their inner artist and pave their way for success in the industry.
