An exciting year for Axis Connect

As 2017 comes to an end, we are filled with gratitude as we reflect on what we've accomplished this year. We would like to take a moment to share our hearts and thank you for your continued love and support!

As most of you are aware, AXIS CONNECT is a bicoastal, two week summer intensive for emerging and professional dancers 18 and older. Dancers are selected by audition only to join an elite group of dance industry leaders for classes, workshops, creative process, rehearsals, panels, networking and performance opportunities in both New York City and Los Angeles.

Our Axis 2017 session was a huge success! Axis Connect has created a community of over 200 dancers, choreographers, directors, agents, managers, producers and teachers in just two years. This unique platform provides a safe place where aspiring professionals find a strong sense of self and the confidence to move forward in their careers as empowered artists. This year, seventy dancers joined us, and our guest artists were delighted by the artistry, maturity and versatility of our dancers.

In Los Angeles, Tony Testa, a revered commercial dance creative director and choreographer, selected twenty of our dancers to workshop ideas on for his opening piece on SYTYCD (watch Tony at Axis.) Vincent Paterson set his original “Smooth Criminal” choreography with incredible attention to detail, engendering a strong work-ethic, and teaching our dancers  critical self-presentation skills (watch Vincent at Axis.) The dancers also had the unique privilege of working with our brilliant sister Aszure Barton who brought their artistry to a new level of expression (watch Aszure at Axis.), among numerous other brilliant artists. Our New York week culminated in a showcase featuring work by Crystal Pite, Stacey Tookey (watch Stacey at Axis,) Alexandra Damiani, the Kuperman Brothers (watch the Kuperman/Axis film,) Nathan Madden (watch Nathan) and Hamilton, An American Musical. Watching our dancers transform and mature into empowered artists taking ownership of their careers was both impressive and inspiring. It is inspiring to see so much growth over such a short period of time.

This year we also introduced some fantastic, eco-conscious apparel! Click here to see our dance wear.

As we grow, we continue to nurture our philosophy of empowering the individual while embracing a community, and connecting the industry as a whole. We're excited to see where Axis Connect continues to take us all!

Lastly, we're now gearing up for our 2018 auditions. Auditions will be held in NYC, Chicago and Los Angeles. Click here for more details.
